🏡 Home & Garden Uses

Diatomaceous earth is one of the most useful natural minerals you can have in the garden shed:

• Natural pest control — apply around the base of plants, along garden bed edges, and on foliage to deter ants, slugs, snails, aphids, thrips, whitefly, and other crawling insects
• Soil amendment — improves soil structure, aeration, and water retention in both sandy and clay soils
• Potting mix additive — add to potting mix to improve drainage and prevent compaction
• Mulch layer — top-dress garden beds to retain moisture and deter soil-dwelling pests
• Indoor pest control — apply along skirting boards, under appliances, and in cracks and crevices to deter cockroaches, ants, and silverfish

🌾 Agricultural & Farm Uses

• Soil conditioner — improves soil porosity, water retention, and microbial activity across a wide range of soil types
• Grain storage — mix with stored grain as a natural anti-caking and insect deterrent agent
• Stock feed additive — add Fines or -2mm grade to livestock feed at 1–2% of total feed weight for cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, and poultry
• Pasture improvement — broadcast across pasture to improve soil structure and water-holding capacity
• Silage additive — used as a natural flow and anti-caking agent

🐔 Poultry & Livestock Uses

• Red mite & lice control — dust into coop litter, nesting boxes, and perches; apply lightly to birds’ feathers
• Coop litter amendment — reduces moisture and odour in poultry litter
• Stock feed supplement — natural anti-caking agent and flow improver in dry feed and grain mixes
• Dust bath additive — add to your flock’s dust bath area for natural mite prevention

💧 Filtration & Absorption Uses

• Liquid filtration — used as a natural filter medium for water, oils, and other liquids
• Spill absorption — highly absorbent — excellent for absorbing oils, chemicals, and liquid spills in sheds and workshops
• Drainage medium — use coarser grades (2–4mm, 4–8mm) as a drainage layer in pots, raised beds, and garden drainage systems
• Hydroponic & aquaponic media — inert, pH neutral, and excellent water retention properties
